DAY 7, Day 4 cruisin' the Rhine

After breakfast on board with the boat docked in Rudesheim, we made our way to our transportation for the day. Twelve of us had signed up for a ride up the hill to the Eberbach Monastery. Since we had finished breakfast it was the perfect time for wine tasting and a beautiful choral chant.

The history of the monastery and its relationship with the art of wine making was fascinating. After several wine samplings you are then led to the gift shop, I'm sure an entirely unplanned event. I could write pages on what we learned on this fascinating tour but no one would read it.

I did find out that I would have been a lousy Monk. Bad food, long hard hours in the vineyards, followed by eight hours of praying and NO talking.

Once back on board, and after a cheeseburger in the bistro, we had a wonderful afternoon on the open top deck. Cruising through the beautiful Rhine river gorge past castle after castle with narration as to the history of each one. About six we pulled over for the night in Koblenz.

After dinner it was time to listen to a wonderful singer sing us stories in many languages. You will all be proud to know that Suite 311 and 317 CLOSED THE BAR!
